Hackwell Anniversary Party

Last weekend was my grandparents 50th anniversary party. We had family come from all over the country to celebrate at the Pike's home in Mount Vernon. What fun! All of our kids' cousins were there and had fun playing silly games. We had a hay ride, watermelon seed spitting contest, water balloon tosses, and even a rubber chicken toss. I apologize in advance for the ridiculous amount of pictures...I couldn't decide between them.

So we heard about how dropping Mentos in soda causes a huge reaction, thought we might as well try it!

The fireflies are out

Grandpa Smith is here for a visit from California. Tonight we spent the evening catching fireflies. It is the first night that there have been enough of them to catch. They even smeared one on me and it made glowing streaks. Then came the bats swooping down to eat them. Poor fireflies, Abby and Eli, and then bats!

I tried to take pictures, they didn't show up as much as I would like.
